I use poetry throughout the year, but really focus on having the kiddos create different kinds of poetry during April, National Poetry Month. We started with shape poems. I instructed them to choose a topic, write their words and then make their shape around it. I think they did a good job for their first try!
At first I didn't think she used the shape-and then I saw it. My favorite one!
Puppy Island is a wonderful place to be
You see the puppies that are there and can bring a blanky.
My Dad has a rectangle on his body.
Making snowflakes-It feels like it is alive.
